UPSC Exams
Like all other national examinations, the Union Public Service Commission conducts the Combined Engineering Services’ Examination every year to recruit to the following categories of Engineering Services. The categories are civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics and telecommunication engineering.
Eligibility
The candidates need to have a degree in engineering from a recognised university or clear the Group A and B of the institution Examinations of the Institution of engineers in this country, or have a diploma in engineering from a foreign university. The candidates need to be of 21 years minimum and 28 years maximum. The upper age bar can be reinstated for the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and other backward classes.
Examination Procedure
The examination is held in two parts, the written test and the personality test. The written test again comprises of two sectional tests. The first one consists of only objective questions and is of 2 hours duration. The second part is the conventional papers of 3 hours each. Both the sections will have questions from the entire syllabus of one’s discipline, be it civil, mechanical, electrical or electronics and telecommunication engineering.
The personality test has maximum marks of 200 and is for those students only who clear the written exam.
