Civil Services Main Exam

In recent times the economic depression has hit the private companies hard and they have been forced to cut down on employee strength. This has left prospective job seekers in a quandary. However, jobs in the government sector are still as lucrative as ever. Not only do these jobs have their own perks like healthcare, housing and conveyance but they also offer job security. The Civil Services mainly includes all departments which are responsible to look after all the matters of the state. Moreover the power and prestige that accompanies the post of a Civil Service officer like IAS or IPS is immense. You can get in to the Central Services, IAS, IPS, Group A and Group B by passing the Civil Services Main Exam conducted by the Public Service Commission (UPSC) in different centers of India.
 
Eligibility for the Exams

The Civil Services main Exam has some eligibility criteria which must be fulfilled by the candidate at the time of joining. They are as follows-
• Candidates must be a graduate from in any discipline from any University in the country recognized by the Government. Candidates who are in their final year and waiting for their results can also apply.
• Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
• Candidate should be between 21to 30 years old as on the 1st of August 2009.

Selection Procedure

The candidates are selected depending on the marks obtained by them in the written exam. The selected candidates are then called for Personal Interview and Group Discussion. Final list of the successful candidates are declared after the GD and PI.

The Civil Services main Exam was conducted on 23rd October 2009.
