Combined Defense Services Examination
There can be no better job than serving your country. If you have that patriotic flavor in you, if you fancy the armed forces and the life of an army officer then you must prepare for the Combined Defense Services Examination held by the Union Public Service Commission. This examination is a chance for you to get a career in the armed forces or the navy or the air force. Through the Central Defense Services examination you can get into either the Indian Military Academy at Dehra Dun, or the Indian Naval Academy at Goa, or the Air Force Academy at Hyderabad or the Officers training Academy in Chennai.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the Central Defense Services exam are as follows-
• In the Indian Military Academy only unmarried male candidates whose birth date falls between 2nd July, 1986 and 1st July, 1991 are eligible. They must be a graduate from any recognized University at the time of joining.
• In the Navel Academy unmarried male candidates whose birth date falls between 2nd July, 1988 and 1st July, 1991 are eligible. The candidates must be a bachelor in science in physics or mathematics.
• In the Air Force Academy only unmarried male candidates whose birth date falls between 2nd July, 1987 and 1st July, 1991 are eligible. They should either a honors student or a bachelor of engineering.
• In Officer’s Training Academy both married and unmarried Male candidates whose birth date falls between 2nd July, 1985 and July 1991 are eligible.
Selection Procedure
The candidates are selected through Central Defense Services Examination which is conducted by UPSC.

The UPSC conducted the Central Defense Service Examinations this year on the 13th of September 2009.
