Combined Medical Services Examination

The UPSC conducts this Combined Medical Services Examination for the recruitment of the services of railways, ordnance factories health service, central health service, municipal corporation of Delhi. The candidates can apply for more than one of the services without any additional examination fee.

Eligibility

The candidates need to hold a degree in the M.B.B.S. the candidates who haven’t completed the rotary internship are also eligible to apply for this examination but their appointment upon selection i based on their completion of the internship.

The maximum age is 32 beyond which candidates cannot apply for this exam, though the age limit is reinstated up to a maximum of 5 years, in case of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward classes.
Exam Procedure

The application form is available at all post offices and head post offices across the country against a cash payment of 20 rupees.

The examination comprises of three parts, the written examination, interview and medical examination. The written examination again has two sections of 2 hours each and 100 mark each. The candidates qualifying for the written examination are then interviewed. This interview is better known personality test. This test carries a maximum mark of 200. It is a test on general knowledge and other aspects of life other than academics. The Ministry of Health and family Welfare then take a medical test for those who qualify for the personal interview.

Important dates

The UPSC will conduct the next Combined Medical Services Examination on the 17th of January 2010 and the last date for filling up forms is 5th October 2009.
