Geologists Examination
Students have started taking geology as a career over the years. For people who have passed bachelors with geology subjects and want to be a geologist officer in the government the Geologists Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission is best. This examination is for recruitment for the posts of Geologist (Junior), Group A (ii) Assistant Geologist, Group B in the Geological Survey of India in Category 1 and (i) Jr. Hydrogeologist, Group A (ii) Assistant Hydrogeologist, Group B in the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) in Category 2. Those candidates who make it through the exams are appointed temporary joining for 2 years when they are tested and trained to be competent and experienced geologists.
Eligibility
The candidate must have a Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Mineral Exploration or Hydrology from any University recognized by the government of India. A Diploma in Applied Geology or a masters Degree in Mineral Exploration is also accepted.
The candidate should be between 21 to 30 years old at the beginning of the year on 1st January of the year of the examination. This age limit is increased in case of SC or ST or OBC candidates
Selection Procedure
An entrance exam is conducted for the purpose of selecting meritorious students. Candidates have to clear this exam for getting a post of Geologist.
